It is a wonderful addition to the rest of the Nenis as it fits in perfectly. A subtle tactile experience. The strokes stand out and are pleasant yet soft to the touch during use.

Wheelthrown handmade ceramic cup made of white stoneware clay glazed in a glossy neutral glaze. All pieces are foodsafe and can be put in the dishwasher. Due to the handmade process pieces might differ in size, shape and colour.

Marie made the first Neni cup in Mainz in 2021. When she spent some time in the UK in 2022, she made her first prototypes and experimented with different shapes and sizes. The final Neni, with its delicate foot, took shape in 2023. Different glaze colours were developed to accentuate the wavy surface. From July 2023, Nenis are a constant part of MATE Ceramics collections and are continually expanded.

The special edition cup came about one day when Marie held a raw Neni Cup in her hands that had a crack in the base. She couldn’t have saved it and had to throw it away. She remembers standing at the workbench dreamily holding a pen in her hand and starting to run it over the ripples of the cup. It made a sound like one of those `Klangfrosch´ instruments. She fired it and the result amazed her. A wonderful new and special edition of the Neni cup was born.
